SMOOTHER RETURN

Ramat Raziel road alternative

A map-built alternative using Route 395 for a smoother return, also starting and finishing at Caffit.

Both files start and finish at Caffit, Anava Park, and leave out the home legs for privacy. The Caffit connectors are map-built additions, not part of the 1 October recording, and the files carry no elevation stream, so import ascent figures may differ from the recorded 1,862 m. The road alternative is map-built, not a recorded ride. The headline stats are the full recorded ride.

MODI'IN / JERUSALEM HILLS

The route on the map

Modi'in → Nahal Ilan → Jerusalem → Ein Kerem → Tzuba → Eshtaol → return

THE RIDE

And back through the hills.

Roughly half gravel and half road, with no singletrack. A gravel bike with 45 mm+ tires is the best fit. An MTB works too; this is not a road-bike route.

The first gravel climb from Mevo Horon is the most technical. The long climb from Shaar HaGai/Nahal Ilan to Neve Ilan stays on gravel. Mevaseret, Arazim-Lifta and Ein Kerem-Tzuba are road climbs.

After Tzuba, the descent toward Ya'ar HaKedoshim is fast, rough gravel. Route 395 past Ramat Raziel offers a smoother road return.
